Reading:
The learner will be able to...

• read orally with fluency, accuracy, and understanding up to and including book 12 in the second grade reading program
• apply phonetic rules to decode new words
• answer comprehension questions in complete sentences using information from the story
• sequence events from a story both orally and in written form
  

Math:
The learner will be able to...

• count by ones, twos, fives and tens to 1,000
• use the counting pattern to count to and beyond 10,000
• understand place value to 10,000
• know addition and subtraction facts that enable them to add and subtract up to four digit numbers by carrying/borrowing
• use problem sovling skills to solve a variety of word problems
• use appropriate units of measurement in given settings.

Spelling:
The learner will be able to...

• perform at 70% or better on weekly spelling tests
• edit written work for spelling errors

Science:
The learner will be able to...

• study different plants and animals, the air around them, themselves, things that move and things that work together through reading the text and studying Bible verses

Social Studies:
The learner will be able to...

• learn about the beginning of America's patriotic holidays and songs.
  
• use map skills to find locations and directions on a map.
